By sending in your story, you will help pioneer a new forum for people with HIV/AIDS and their allies, encouraging others to share their experiences and insights. AIDS has many voices - everyone deserves to be heard.
Privacy and personal security are important to us.
People can face prejudice and discrimination if they are known or believed to have HIV. Many contributors to 1001 may not have HIV, but some readers may assume that they do.
Anyone sending in a story should reflect that their family, employer and friends may also see it. Once it's "out there", it can never be wholly withdrawn.
Some people wish their HIV-status to be known. We respect their right to make that decision. But if we are in any doubt whether informed consent has been given, we may change or remove the names or personal details in a story.
If you are not aged 18 or over, we may change the author's name or other personal details unless you attach to your story text a signed consent from your parent or guardian.
We can’t accept a photo of any recognisable face unless we are sure that the person concerned has agreed.
By submitting your story you agree that you understand and accept the following statement of informed consent.
Statement of Informed Consent:
I submit this text and image to be published on the 1001 AIDS Stories website. I understand that any personal information in the story will become public knowledge, and that once it has been published on the internet there is no way to make it private again.
I license Panos Canada to use my story and image non-commercially under the Creative Commons licence agreement called " Attribution - NonCommercial 3.0 unported"
